Release Notes:
Finnish heavy-metal quartet, Nightwish, were formed by keyboardist
Tuomas Holopainen and classically trained vocalist Tarja Turunen, in
1996.
Prime exponents of "symphonic metal"--distinguished by the complex song
arrangements and use of keyboards--their debut album ANGELS FALL FIRST
also showcased the band's folk leanings.
Their international breakthrough came with the single, "Wish I Had An
Angel", from their fifth album, ONCE--released in 2004--the song
featured on the soundtrack of the horror film, ALONE IN THE DARK,
boosted the band's profile in the US.
Following a world tour to support the album the band parted company with Turunen.
Her replacement, Anette Olzon--previously with Swedish band Alyson Avenue--made her debut on the 2006 album DARK PASSION PLAY.
