Bill Gates says Windows 7 replacing Vista next year

Bill Gates: New Version of Windows Within a Year

While speaking at the Inter-American Development Bank Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates told an audience that a new version of Windows will come within a year, far ahead of the 3 year release target indicated by his company.

The next version of Windows, codenamed 'Windows 7', will reportedly come in both 32- and 64-bit and may work on a subscription model. It is yet to be confirmed whether Gates was referring to a release or early testing.

"Sometime in the next year or so we will have a new version. I'm super-enthused about what it [Windows 7] will do in lots of ways," said Gates.

If it works on a subscription basis, Bill Gates can kiss my arse. This will be the kiss of death for Microshaft.

It's WIndows - it's unlikely to work, LOL.

Posted by Creemoreguy on 07.04.2008 // 22:44 [ Link ]

Does anybody know how to count? Well, don't count on a Final Release for next year!! More like 2 years of Betas, several RCs, then if you're lucky, a final in 2013, the same time frame it took Microslop to put out Vista and what a fiasco that lame excuse of an O/S turned out to be!!

MS should have known better to leave well enough alone. XP did the trick, so why are they screwing things up with new and UNimproved new Windows?

With all the multi million $$ lawsuits they keep losing, it's any wonder they still have money left to pay their developers!!

I switched to LINUX some time ago and have never looked back at that Glorified Menuing System called Winblows!!

Posted by rickxtreme on 08.04.2008 // 00:04 [ Link ]

Since the begining of Longhorn code name..Vista was destinated to fail.

It has been the worst mistake in modern Microsoft history, and the now are paying the consequences.

saludos/regards

Full 10/10 scores to all the members comments above! :)

It's good to see not everyone is blind to all the silly "Great Expectations" hype !

Dudes, I have no probs with XP or 2000/2003, and I sincerely believe we are at the Golden Age of great user friendly computing RIGHT NOW from 2001 to current. All this "over the top/fill it up" Vista and 7 stuff is just pushing sh*t uphill and going backwards IMO, to the newb head scratching 98 and ME days, when lack of multitasking ability, IE/malware crashes and weird drivers were taking their toll on those (and us!). We got past all that to the safe zone in XP and 2000, and a few service packs later, they are still kicking, and the software developers we leech from really should be commended for great apps work with these platforms.

Vista hasn't brought anything new to the table, except the problems it brings, resource hogging, hard drive thrashing, and of course Aero, a desktop dressups app, that much better third party apps can outperform on any standard video card and PC!

7? Wasn't that bad luck for many apps like Nero and others? LOL

We should have a "Vista BOO HOO section" at iNetHouse for all you cry babies.

Posted by flack on 08.04.2008 // 13:42 [ Link ]

And what about the poor guys that were force to get vista with their new computers mother fucker? and then ms wonders why people rip them off? FUCK YOU BILL!

Posted by C_Lockit_in_Eddie on 08.04.2008 // 15:19 [ Link ]

Fluck off flack, don't call me "Your Mother fucker".I had nothing to do with your deformed birth. Blame your farther for how you turned out and leave me out of your interbread family life.

Posted by trollwatcher on 09.04.2008 // 13:10 [ Link ]

'flack' is correct. Consumers should have a choice of operating systems when buying a new PC.

Vista should be a CHOICE, not a PC prison sentence or beta scam at the consumers financial expense and inconvenience.

New PCs and OEMs should offer XP or Media Centre as standard, and Vista as an upgrade,

or better still, a dual boot situation and fair licensing cum trial thing, so the CUSTOMER can decide which way the WinDblowz, and keep XP or Vista or both.

Why the MS and the OEM Think Tanks haven't thought of that, and are now shoving subscription "protection rackets" on peeps, really beats me.

Do they want to make money and bury Mac and Linux, or not??

What am I missing here folks? lol

In my opinion, those complaining about PCs/laptops supplied with a pre-installed OS, are locked up in a box of their own ignorance. When you buy a piece of hardware you pay all the hardworking developers in the Silicon Valley and the exploited chip-packing kids in Asia - Software comes free from Inethouse.

Allow me to assist you in developing a cognitive way of purchasing a computer.

1. You have to buy, inherit, or steal a working piece of hardware; with or without pre-installed Vista.

2. Navigate to Inethouse and leech a desired OS - preferably other that Vista.

3. Install the 'free' OS on your hardware.

4. Enjoy - do not whine nor bitch!

* If having trouble with #3 - the internet is your friend.

PS

In case you have any negative or depressing comments consider shoving them up your ass. Ponder about it, then execute the shoving procedure.

thank DoG we have some -real- peeps here, with big functioning genitals to speak up, toss in some POVs with a good blend of humour, facts and logic!

I was beginning to think the global "Sheeple-litis" disease had spread to the warez havens as well! :O

It's bad enough in the real world, with peeps warped 'concept' of it, via the good ol TRUTH media ;)

I agree People should have a choice and I have never said that they shouldn’t, my gripe is that because you and a few others don’t like Vista you think you have the right to put 5hit on others because they do like it.

But after reading your last post I must say why stop at win XP? With your logic You should be able to get a new $2000+ dollar PC with your choice of either win 3.3, 95, 98, 98se, ME, 2000, 2000 business, XP, XP home, XP Med Cent and XP Pro as well as Vista installed.

Can you still buy a brand new car or TV or anything for that matter that was made in 1995 0r 2000? No you can't!!! So wake up and start living in the modern world.

Some people may not like Vista and that is their prerogative, but the rest of the world will use it happily. Some may choose to stay with Vista and some may choose to move on when the new model arrives. Wanting to use Vista is a choice too, you do realize that don’t you?

Looking into the future I can see that the year is 2020 and trollwatcher is still fighting for the right to buy a new PC with Windows ME or XP installed.

trollwatcher you can dish it out but you can't take it. If someone puts forward a different view to your own logic you go all out to shut them down. Ever thought of visiting a phyciatrist? I here they may be able to help people work out their inadequacies.

I said it before and I will say it again--you just like to hear yourself ramble on.

LOL, _Eddie thinks he can play in my private sand pit, pffffttttt :D

ermmmm, that's easy to do, been there already (great fun) with a multiple partition/boot manager program, or VM/Virtual programs etc. LOL, do you pay attention to serious posts and info from clued, very learned peeps here on the scene, or just pick up your cracked groceriez and stick to the pinky sites and tugg n sukk on lil _Eddie?

Dude, I can't help you if you lost your prescription refills and went out and got shilled by some long noseD Vista blabber (related to George Jetson) who swiped your plastic and gave you a box of future promises!!!

Just wear it, and enjoy our critique action here, or boot out Vista instead of booting up with it ;)

And btw: any fool spending $2000+ on the latest PC is a PUTZ to begin with, Vista loaded or not !!!

Ebay will get you all that and more, "have money have choice", lot's of mint condition items on offer, what pebble have you been sleeping under? Why are older cars, musical instruments, Dead Sea Scrolls, old GOLD etc etc so VALUABLE?

and the "modern world"(or your pinhole sized peephole perception of it) is running out of reg buddy, look around...peeps with your attitude are running it into the ground, with your 'hype deceived' closed minds, and expectations that other forms of intelligence (and marketers to the shmucks) are out there, to service our needs and thought process = get real and see the light bulb flickering.

Start thinking beyond "The WoW Starts Now" and see the Blista packaged dung for what it is. The peeps at this post were partying hard before I even arrived here to toss in my 10 cents/euro too. What? did someone tip them off I was coming? Am I operating a cult here? lol :D

LOL,dude I'm still waiting for you to pay me my last lot of tuition fees!! I can hear your cry for help and see you need more lessons, so I'll do a good price if you square up the whole lot in cash, or some quality street stuff :D

Come on _Eddie, I have taken on GODS and DEMONS in cage matches and walked away unscathed, so it's pointless you taking on a slippery stainless steel wall m8, I can take 100 like you before breakfast, whether you are 13 or 1300 yo.

FAQ: It's also against my personal policy to not take on good members at any forum, whatever the circumstances or POVs. I would rather throw down the towel, I have some scruples!

If you want to be 'bad guy' then that policy changes real fast :D

Wake up, and get with the program!

Poor old trollwatcher, you’re cracking up mate.

Hang on while I call 911 and get the men in the white coats out to your Mums basement to give you a sedative and maybe a straight jacket.

Also that comment about your private sand pit. I don't want to play in it because I heard that you have a lot of trouble with the neighborhood cats in that sand pit; every time YOU try to play in it they come along,, have a sniff and think it's kitty litter and then they try to bury you.

FUTURE NEWS: The year 2130 - trollwatcher is still upset because he can't buy a new PC with windows 2000 or XP pre installed. He says he should still be able to buy a brand new Windows PC with an operating system that is 122 years old. pffffttttt :D

I’m sick of this BS argument so this is my last post “old chum”; I do hope you get better soon.

Posted by trollwatcher on 10.04.2008 // 11:51 [ Link ]

yeah, can't have you hanging about the kitty litter like a bad smell, for the others here to chew you out too, can we C_Lock_it_away_Edith? :d

""FUTURE NEWS: The year 2130 >> Vista finally WORKS, and global tributes are paid to faith users such as C_Lockit_in_Eddie for believing in the unbelievable at a time when REALITY ruled the planet"

...and XP/2000 were the undisputed operating systems of choice,

till 2199 AD....:D

I like to feud, boys!

By the way, the release date for Win2k is February 2000, XP is October 2001.

Posted by januszkl on 11.04.2008 // 00:17 [ Link ]

... Vista release date is November 2006 (volume licensing)/January 2007 (retail).

Microsoft's OS release cycle is supposed to be 3 years. It is safe to say that the earliest thing expected to be released by Microsoft is Bill's Refried-bins Fart 2010 ver.5.0.

Besides, MS extended its support for W2k until July 13, 2010. That will, probably, make W2k and XP the longest living OS.

Posted by trollwatcher on 11.04.2008 // 12:55 [ Link ]

thx for the stats :)

LOL, in a few months Nero, Norton, and Adobe will supply any MS operating system you like, and free workstation, as part of their bundled softwhere packages :D

trollwatcher & Eddie you guys crack me up.You must be just playing...right?I say lets bring back the Comodore 64.

Posted by januszkl on 11.04.2008 // 19:55 [ Link ]

Commodore? That's way advanced. I vote for Atari 800XL - my first pocket sized calculator. 8bit, 8KB RAM, it took 5 minutest to scan the immense memory bank.

I have brilliant idea for my own plasma screen PC - energy-star compliant . I'll put a candle light behind an abacus.

Posted by trollwatcher on 13.04.2008 // 03:20 [ Link ]

ermmm, I had a Sharp Scientific Computer whatsit that I used as a calculator coz I couldn't understand the manual. Did anyone? lol

I did eventually calculate that I was doing a bit too much percentage of net choofin at the time, and forecast that it would continue for a set period till either my cash flow ceased, or the dealer got mugged by the competition :D

hey guys, maybe "7" will have glass mirror Aero wallpapers, and some ladders too, just to enhance the "7" thing...
