DOSBox v0.65 & DOSShell v1.4

What is DosBox?

DosBox is a utility that allows you to play old DOS games on your new PC's running newer version of Windows. For example, most of us have Windows XP and Pentium 4 these days. So the old DOS games either do not work well or work without sounds and some problems do occur. Like old DOS games require you to enter the IRQ,DMA and other things for running sound. But with DosBox just select Sound Blaster option and enjoy. So keeping in view all these problems, this tool has been designed.

How to Use DosBox?

Using DosBox is quite simple. Just install it. Then run it. Now use this command:-
Suppose you want have an old DOS game, eg. Dune 2, and you want to run it. Suppose that the game is located in C:\Games\Dune2

Z:\>MOUNT D: D:\ (press Enter)

By default, it comes in z: (e.g. when you run it from the start menu, it takes in DOS mode even in Windows XP). Now C: is the drive which contains your games folder. After it, change the drive to c. e.g.

Z:\>D: (press Enter)

Now you have been moved to C: . Now automatically you are inside the games directory.
Now, just typ the name of the executable and enjoy the game!

C:\>synd.exe (press Enter)

Distribution of DosBox?

Dosbox is opensource, so modification of it's contents is allowed as long as you publish the changes.

Limitations of DosBox?

Yes, it has limitations. For example, it is not able to run all the Dos games although it may many games. But the persons who created this tool say that newer versions of DosBox will run all the Dos games.

System Requirements:-

To run DOSBox at sufficient speed, you need a processor with speed of at least 1 GHz (some games will run fine on slower processors too) and you have to have Win2000 or Win XP operating system. It is possible to run it under Win98, but if you are running Win9x, you better use some programs to slow your computer down (if your computer is too fast), and just use DOS that is included in Win98 operating system..
It needs about 2.2 MB of hard drive space.

Special Keys:-

Some games will run too slow, so you will have to adjust cycle count and frameskip. Do this by using next key combination:

CTRL-F7 = Decreases frameskip
CTRL-F8 = Increases frameskip
CTRL-F11 = Slows down the game
CTRL-F12 = Speeds up the game

Light Cycle 3D v1.05

Not everyone knows Disney's Science Fiction movie Tron. It is a movie, from somewhere in the eighties, that has some great special effects for that time. It's about a man, who by accident fragmentizes himself into a computer in which he has to play arcade games to survive. The most spectacular thing of this movie was the dexterity game, called Light Cycle. In this game the player has to ride some kind of futuristic motorcycle, that leaves behind a trail of light. This lightwall cannot be passed by any cycle. In this way he has to cut corners to trap other players.

Light Cycle (or Tron as some people call this game) has been remade as a game on the computer for several times, but almost always in 2D and without anything more to do than cycling around. Now you can enjoy this addicted game in 3D, with spectacular views and speeds. This game allows you to compete against a maximum of seven computers or against up to three of your friends. But if you just want to watch the computers slaughter themselves, you can also enter a game as a spectator.

Light Cycle 3D has everything the movie has. Plus more! With other Light Cycle games I mostly erased it from my hard disk after having played it for several minutes, because there was not much to do except for trying to trap your enemies. So I decided to give this game a bit more variety. In Light Cycle 3D you now can give your cycle extra boost, teleport, get a shield and confuse, dizzy or blind your foes and so many more things.

The Solaris - TCP/IP Network Administration

About the Book

The Solaris - TCP/IP Network Administration course teaches students the
advanced administration skills required to plan, create, administer,
and troubleshoot a local area network (LAN).This course provides hands-on
experience with network configuration, network planning and troubleshooting,
Domain Name Service (DNS),Sendmail, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol
(DHCP), and LAN planning.

Module 1 – Network Models

In this module, you will learn about the International
Organization for Standardization/Open Systems Interconnection
(ISO/OSI) and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol
(TCP/IP) networking models.
Lab exercise – You will complete an exercise reviewing network
models.

Module 2 – Introduction to Local Area Networks

In this module, you will learn about LAN concepts and
terminology required for more complex concepts taught in later
modules.
Lab exercise – You will complete an exercise reviewing LAN
architecture and components.

Module 3 – Ethernet Interface

In this module, you will learn what role the Ethernet interface
(Hardware layer) plays in TCP/IP architecture. Solaris™ based
network monitoring utilities will be introduced.
Lab exercise – You will monitor Ethernet hardware operation
using Solaris based monitoring utilities such as netstat and
snoop.

Module 4 – ARP and RARP

In this module, you will learn how TCP/IP resolves Ethernet
addresses to Internet addresses and Internet addresses to Ethernet
addresses. The arp utility will be introduced.
Lab exercise – You will monitor ARP and RARP operation using
Solaris based monitoring utilities such as arp and snoop.

Module 5 – Internet Layer

This module details Internet address Version IPv4. In this module,
you will learn how to configure network interfaces using the
ifconfig command. You will also learn how subnets are defined.
Included in this module is a detailed description of the subnet
mask.
Lab exercise – You will configure network interfaces for LAN
communication.

Module 6 – Routing

In this module, you will learn how TCP/IP routes data between
networks. Details on various routing protocols will be explored.
Lab exercise – In the first exercise, you will complete a written
exercise covering key routing concepts. In the second exercise you
will configure a LAN with subnetworks. You will also configure
hosts for routing between the subnets.

Module 7 – Transport Layer

This module covers the TCP/IP transport layer. Included in this
module are details on TCP and User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
protocols.
Lab exercise – You will complete a written exercise covering key
Transport layer concepts.

Module 8 – Client-Server Model

In this module, you will learn about the relationship of
client/server hosts on the network. This module includes details
on remote procedure call (RPC) services.
Lab exercise – You will explore how client processes find and
connect to server processes and the two ways that server processes
can be started.

Module 9 – DHCP

In this module, you will learn to dynamically allocate IP addresses
to networked hosts. This module includes detailed address leasing
and macro file configuration.
